Field selection in Purchase requisition and Purchase order can be controlled using field selection set which is attached to PR/PO document types. In addition to these field selection set there are few standard field selection sets created and used by SAP for internal purposes.
Eg : PT5B is PR standard field selection set which will control the document item fields when Third party purchase requisitions are created.
This document explains various scenario's in which field selection set are used and their purpose.
Requirement
1. Short Text field should not be modified in PR / PO when material no is entered.
Short Text field should not be modified in PR / PO when material no is entered.
This is a common requirement where the end users should not be allowed to change the material description automatically populated in the short text field of the PR/PO when created.
This requirment can fulfilled by using field selection set configuration instead of taking user exit / development route.
In the field selection set make the Material Text field to display. Note this is not the short text field. If short text field is made to display short text cannot be entered for services and consumption purchases without material master.
Configuration Node : SPRO --> Materials Management --> Purchasing --> Purchase Requisition --> Define screen Layout at document level.
SPRO --> Materials Management --> Purchasing --> Purchase Order --> Define screen Layout at document level.
Note : Please check the field selection set assigned to document type in SPRO --> Materials Management --> Purchasing --> Purchase Requisition --> Define document type and make changes to the field selection set assigned to the document type.
